Hutba: Pouke i poruke iz života Ibrahima a.s. Potpuno povjerenje u Allaha kada ostaneš sam
Hvala Allahu, Gospodaru svih svjetova.
Draga braćo i sestre,
Nastavljajući našu seriju hutbi o Allahovim poslanicima, danas govorimo o Ibrahimu, alejhi selam, jednom od najvećih ljudi u historiji čovječanstva. Allah ga u Kur’anu naziva Halilullahom – Allahovim prijateljem.
Braćo i sestre,
Draga braćo i sestre,
Allah tada naređuje: “O vatro ostani hladna i spasonosna Ibrahimu.” (El-Enbija, 69)
Braćo i sestre,
Brinemo o poslu, zdravlju i djeci.
Draga braćo i sestre,
Braćo i sestre,
Danas ulažemo mnogo truda u obrazovanje i budućnost svoje djece.
Draga braćo i sestre,
Lessons and messages from the life of Prophet Ibrahim, a.s.
Complete trust in Allah when you stand alone
All praise is due to Allah, Lord of all worlds. We praise Him, seek His help and forgiveness, and ask Him to guide and protect us. I bear witness that there is no god worthy of worship except Allah alone, and I bear witness that Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, is His servant and Messenger. May Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him, his family, his companions, and all those who follow his guidance until the Day of Judgment.
Dear brothers and sisters,
As we continue our series of khutbahs about the Prophets of Allah, today we reflect on the life of one of the greatest human beings who ever walked this earth: Prophet Ibrahim, peace be upon him.
Allah honored him with a title given to no ordinary person. The Qur’an calls him Khalilullah, the close friend of Allah. His life remains a timeless example of sincere faith, complete submission, and unwavering trust in his Lord.
The life of Ibrahim (a.s.) was filled with difficult tests. He was tested by his family, his people, the rulers of his time, and even through the things he loved most. Yet through every trial, he displayed the quality that raised him among the greatest servants of Allah: complete trust in Allah.
Dear brothers and sisters,
Ibrahim (a.s.) grew up in a society that worshipped idols. People carved gods with their own hands and then bowed before them, seeking help and protection from them. Even as a young man, Ibrahim refused to blindly follow what everyone else was doing. He reflected, observed the signs of Allah, and searched for the truth.
This is the first great lesson from his life. A believer does not follow the truth because it is popular. A believer follows the truth because it comes from Allah.
This lesson is especially important today. We live in a time when many people feel pressured to fit in and conform to whatever society expects from them. Our youth face this challenge every day. Ibrahim (a.s.) teaches us that it is not important how many people stand with you if you are standing with the truth. It is far better to stand with Allah than with the majority.
Many times in life a person may feel alone in trying to protect his faith, his values, and his moral principles. At such moments we should remember Ibrahim (a.s.), who remained firm when nearly everyone around him opposed him.
Dear brothers and sisters,
When Ibrahim (a.s.) called his people to abandon idol worship and return to the worship of the One True God, he faced fierce opposition. When he exposed the helplessness of their false gods, they decided to punish him. They built a massive fire and threw him into it.
He stood alone against an entire nation. There was no army to defend him and no worldly power to rescue him. Yet this is where we see the greatness of his faith. His heart was not attached to the fire or to the people who threw him into it. His heart was attached to Allah.
Allah then commanded: “O fire, be coolness and safety upon Ibrahim.” (Surah Al-Anbiya, 69)
How many times do we face our own fires in life? Sometimes they come in the form of illness. Sometimes family problems. Sometimes worries about our children, our jobs, or our future. In those moments, the story of Ibrahim (a.s.) reminds us that no difficulty is greater than Allah’s help.
Dear brothers and sisters,
Later, Allah commanded Ibrahim (a.s.) to leave his homeland and journey into the unknown. It was not easy to leave behind everything familiar and begin a new chapter of life. Yet Ibrahim did not focus only on what he was leaving behind. He focused on Who was guiding him forward. This is the true meaning of tawakkul. Tawakkul does not mean that you know what tomorrow holds. Tawakkul means that you know Who holds tomorrow.
Many people today live burdened by worries about the future. We worry about our jobs, our health, and our children. Ibrahim (a.s.) teaches us that the future is not built through fear, but through trust in Allah combined with responsible effort.
Many of our families came to Canada leaving behind homes, relatives, and everything that was familiar. In some way, many of us understand what it means to leave one chapter of life and begin another. For this reason, Ibrahim (a.s.) remains a powerful example for Muslims living in the West.
Dear brothers and sisters,
One of the greatest tests of his life came through his son Isma’il. After many years of waiting, Allah blessed him with a child. Then came a test that no parent could easily imagine. At the heart of that test was a question every believer must answer: Do we love Allah more than the blessings Allah has given us?
Allah may not ask us to sacrifice what He asked of Ibrahim (a.s.), but He does ask us to sacrifice our sins, our bad habits, our arrogance, and our unhealthy attachment to worldly things. He asks us to obey Him even when obedience is difficult. When Ibrahim (a.s.) demonstrated complete submission, Allah made him an example for all generations to follow.
Dear brothers and sisters,
Another beautiful lesson from his life is the importance of making du’a for our families. Even while building the Ka’bah, Ibrahim (a.s.) prayed for his children and future generations. This is a powerful reminder for every parent.
Today we invest tremendous effort into our children’s education and future success. All of that is important. But no investment is more valuable than du’a and Islamic upbringing. We may leave our children homes, degrees, and wealth, but the greatest inheritance we can leave them is faith.
Dear brothers and sisters,
Living in Canada, we often face challenges in preserving our faith and identity within a rapidly changing society. During such times, we should remember Ibrahim (a.s.). He teaches us that truth is not measured by numbers, popularity, or social trends. Truth is measured by the pleasure of Allah. If Allah is pleased with you, it does not matter how many people are not.
So, let each of us ask ourselves today: How much do I truly trust Allah when trials come? How much do I rely upon Him when I cannot see a way forward? How much am I willing to sacrifice for His pleasure?
We ask Allah to bless us with the faith of Ibrahim (a.s.), his trust in Allah, his sincerity, and his steadfastness upon the truth. We ask Allah to protect our children and our families, strengthen our iman, and make us among those who trust Him even when they cannot see what lies beyond the next step. Allahumma ameen.
