Hutba: 31 godina od genocida u Srebrenici Srebrenica – emanet koji ne smijemo zaboraviti

Hvala Allahu, Gospodaru svih svjetova. Njega hvalimo, od Njega pomoć i oprost tražimo, i molimo Ga da nas uputi i učvrsti na Pravome putu. Neka su salavat i selam na našeg voljenog Poslanika Muhammeda, sallallahu alejhi ve sellem, njegovu porodicu, ashabe i sve one koji slijede njegov put do Sudnjeg dana.

Draga braćo i sestre,

Postoje hutbe koje imam priprema danima, tražeći riječi koje će najbolje prenijeti poruku vjere i života. Ali postoje i hutbe koje srce napiše prije nego što ih ruka stavi na papir. Ovo je jedna od njih. O Srebrenici nije lahko govoriti, jer svaka izgovorena rečenica dotiče ranu koja ni nakon trideset i jedne godine nije zacijelila. I dok danas stojimo na ovom časnom mjestu, svjesni smo da nijedna riječ ne može opisati bol majke koja je izgubila sina, djeteta koje je ostalo bez oca ili naroda kojem su pokušali oduzeti pravo na život i dostojanstvo.

Ove godine navršava se trideset i jedna godina od genocida u Srebrenici. Trideset i jedna godina od dana kada je pred očima cijeloga svijeta ubijeno više od osam hiljada nevinih ljudi samo zato što su bili muslimani i Bošnjaci. Trideset i jedna godina od trenutka kada su majke ostale bez sinova, supruge bez muževa, djeca bez očeva, a jedan narod zauvijek obilježen ranom koja nikada neće potpuno zacijeliti.

Vrijeme prolazi. Djeca koja su tada preživjela danas imaju svoju djecu. Mnogi od nas su osijedili noseći bol tih dana. Međutim, postoji nešto što vrijeme ne može promijeniti, a to je istina. Istina ostaje ista bez obzira koliko godina prošlo, bez obzira koliko je neko pokušavao da je sakrije, umanji ili negira.

Uzvišeni Allah kaže: „I ne recite za one koji su na Allahovom putu poginuli: ‘Mrtvi su.’ Ne, oni su živi, ali vi to ne osjećate.“ (El-Bekare, 154)

Mi vjerujemo da naši šehidi nisu zaboravljeni kod svoga Gospodara. Njihova krv nije prolivena uzalud. Njihove dove nisu utihnule. Njihove majke nisu plakale bez smisla. Njihova žrtva ostaje emanet svakom Bošnjaku i svakom muslimanu koji danas slobodno izgovara šehadet.

Braćo i sestre,

Srebrenica nije samo mjesto naše tuge. Ona je i mjesto naše odgovornosti. Ona nas uči koliko čovjek može biti dostojanstven i čestit kada ostane vjeran Allahu, ali i koliko može pasti kada iz svog srca izbaci vjeru, savjest i strah od Gospodara.

Genocid nije počeo u julu 1995. godine. Počeo je mnogo ranije. Počeo je riječima mržnje, lažima, vrijeđanjem, ponižavanjem i uvjeravanjem ljudi da njihov komšija više nije čovjek nego neprijatelj. Kada se izgubi osjećaj da je svaki čovjek Allahovo stvorenje, tada zlo postaje moguće. Zbog toga nas islam uči da budemo odgovorni za svaku riječ koju izgovorimo i za svaki osjećaj koji nosimo u svom srcu.

Allah, džellešanuhu, kaže: „O vjernici, budite postojani u pravdi, svjedočeći radi Allaha, makar bilo protiv vas samih.“ (En-Nisa, 135)

Musliman svoju vjeru nikada ne gradi na mržnji. On je gradi na istini, pravdi i odgovornosti. Mi ne govorimo o Srebrenici zato da bismo širili mržnju prema bilo kome. Mi govorimo o Srebrenici zato što vjerujemo da je istina emanet, da je sjećanje dug prema našim šehidima i da je zaborav nepravda prema njima.

Neki bi željeli da se o Srebrenici govori što manje. Neki bi željeli da nove generacije zaborave šta se dogodilo. Ali narod koji zaboravi svoju prošlost vrlo brzo izgubi svoju budućnost. Onaj ko zaboravi svoje šehide, polahko zaboravlja i svoju vjeru, svoj identitet i vrijednosti koje su ga sačuvale kroz najteža iskušenja.

Braćo i sestre,
Mnogi od nas danas žive hiljadama kilometara daleko od Bosne i Hercegovine. Naša djeca odrastaju u Kanadi, školuju se ovdje i ovdje će, ako Bog da, graditi svoju budućnost. To je Allahova odredba. Ali ono što ne smijemo dozvoliti jeste da odrastu ne znajući ko su, odakle dolaze i kakvu su cijenu njihovi roditelji i djedovi platili da bi oni danas živjeli u slobodi.

Ne smijemo dozvoliti da Srebrenica bude samo jedno poglavlje u knjizi historije. Ona mora ostati moralna lekcija našoj djeci. Moramo ih učiti da nikoga ne mrze, ali isto tako da nikada ne pristanu na laž. Moramo ih učiti da poštuju svakog čovjeka, ali i da imaju hrabrosti stati uz istinu kada je to najteže.

Allahov Poslanik, sallallahu alejhi ve sellem, je rekao: „Pomozite svome bratu, bio on nasilnik ili onaj kome je nasilje učinjeno.“ Ashabi upitaše: „Allahov Poslaniče, pomoći ćemo onome kome je nasilje učinjeno, ali kako pomoći nasilniku?“ On odgovori: „Tako što ćete ga spriječiti da čini nasilje.“ (Buharija)

To je poruka islama. Ne šutjeti pred nepravdom. Ne opravdavati nasilje. Ne okretati glavu kada se vrijeđa ljudsko dostojanstvo. Svaki put kada stanemo uz pravdu, mi slijedimo sunnet našeg voljenog Poslanika, sallallahu alejhi ve sellem.

Braćo i sestre,

Najveći odgovor na genocid nije mržnja. Najveći odgovor je život ispunjen vjerom. Najveći odgovor je porodica koja ostaje na okupu. Najveći odgovor je dijete koje uči Kur’an. Najveći odgovor je džemat koji je složan. Najveći odgovor je musliman koji ostaje uspravan, čestit i dostojanstven bez obzira na iskušenja kroz koja prolazi.

Zato nemojmo dozvoliti da se Srebrenice sjećamo samo u mjesecu julu. Ona se čuva svakim djetetom koje učimo Kur’anu, svakim dolaskom u džamiju, svakim sačuvanim bosanskim jezikom, svakom istinom koju prenesemo novim generacijama i svakom dovom koju proučimo za naše šehide. Oni nam nisu ostavili emanet da živimo u mržnji, nego da ostanemo čvrsti u vjeri, dostojanstveni u iskušenjima i nepokolebljivi u istini.

Ako budemo takvi, njihova žrtva neće biti samo bolna uspomena, nego trajna inspiracija da gradimo bolju budućnost za našu djecu, naš džemat, naš narod i našu domovinu.

Braćo i sestre,

Dok danas klanjamo ovu džumu, hiljade učesnika Marša mira stigle su u Srebrenicu nakon što su 8. jula krenule putem kojim su prije trideset i jednu godinu hiljade Bošnjaka pokušavale pronaći spas i slobodu. Njihovi koraci nisu samo pješačenje kroz šume i planine Podrinja. To je hod kroz sjećanje, hod kroz bol i hod kroz istinu koju ne smijemo zaboraviti.

Sutra je 11. juli. Sutra će se ponovo čuti jecaji majki koje ni nakon tri decenije nemaju gdje proučiti Fatihu svom sinu, jer njegove kosti još uvijek nisu pronađene. Sutra će se ponovo spustiti tabuti onih čija su imena godinama čekala da budu dostojanstveno ukopana. Sutra će se ponovo okupiti desetine hiljada ljudi da posvjedoče istinu i odaju počast nevino ubijenim žrtvama.
Te slike ne smiju u nama probuditi samo tugu. One moraju probuditi odgovornost. Odgovornost da budemo bolji ljudi, bolji vjernici, bolji roditelji i bolji čuvari istine.

Na kraju, danas posebno dovimo Uzvišenom Allahu da se smiluje svim šehidima Srebrenice i svim šehidima Bosne i Hercegovine. Molimo Ga da njihovim majkama podari najljepšu nagradu za sabur, da izliječi srca svih koji još uvijek tragaju za posmrtnim ostacima svojih najmilijih i da nikada više nijedan narod ne doživi ono što je naš narod doživio.

Molimo Allaha da Bosni i Hercegovini podari mir, sigurnost i jedinstvo, da sačuva naš narod od svakog zla, da učvrsti naš iman i da nam podari snage da budemo dostojni amaneta koji su nam ostavili naši šehidi.

Allahu naš, primi naše šehide među odabrane robove Svoje. Podari im najviše stepene Dženneta, a njihovim porodicama sabur i utjehu. Učvrsti naša srca u vjeri, sačuvaj naše porodice, naš džemat i našu domovinu Bosnu i Hercegovinu. Učini da istina uvijek bude na našim usnama, pravda u našim djelima, a milost u našim srcima. Podari mir svim nevinim ljudima i sačuvaj čovječanstvo od mržnje, nepravde i svakog novog genocida. Gospodaru naš, učini nas dostojnim emaneta koji su nam ostavili naši šehidi i sastavi nas s njima u Džennetu Firdevsu. Amin.

Khutbah: 31 years since the Srebrenica genocide Srebrenica – a trust we must never forget

All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of all worlds. We praise Him, seek His help and forgiveness, and ask Him to guide us and keep us firm on the Straight Path. May Allah’s peace and blessings be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad, sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, his family, his companions, and all those who follow his path until the Day of Judgment.

Dear brothers and sisters,

There are some khutbahs that an imam prepares with careful thought and selected words. Then there are khutbahs that are written by the heart before they are ever written on paper. This is one of those khutbahs.

Speaking about Srebrenica is never easy. Every sentence touches a wound that has not healed, even after thirty-one years. No words can fully describe the pain of a mother who lost her son, a child who grew up without a father, or a people who were targeted simply because of who they were.

Tomorrow marks thirty-one years since the genocide in Srebrenica, when more than eight thousand Bosniak Muslim men and boys were murdered in a crime that shocked the conscience of humanity. Families were destroyed, communities were shattered, and countless lives were forever changed.

For many in our congregation, Srebrenica is deeply personal. For others who come from different countries and backgrounds, it may be part of history they did not live through. Yet the lessons of Srebrenica belong to all of us, because injustice anywhere is a warning to humanity everywhere.

Time has passed. Children who survived have become parents and grandparents. Many who remember those days have grown old carrying their memories. Yet one thing has never changed: the truth. Time does not erase truth, and neither does denial.
Allah says: “And do not say of those who are killed in the way of Allah that they are dead. Rather, they are alive, though you do not perceive it.” (Surah Al-Baqarah, 2:154)
We believe that the martyrs are not forgotten by their Lord. Their sacrifice was not in vain. Their suffering is known to Allah, and their patience remains an inspiration for generations to come.

Dear brothers and sisters,

Srebrenica is not only a place of grief. It is also a place of responsibility. It teaches us how noble and dignified a human being can be when he remains faithful to Allah, and how low humanity can fall when faith, conscience, and the fear of God disappear from the heart.

Genocide did not begin in July of 1995. It began much earlier with words of hatred, lies, discrimination, dehumanization, and the refusal to see others as fellow human beings. When people stop recognizing the dignity that Allah has given to every human being, terrible crimes become possible.

That is why Islam teaches us to be responsible for our words, our attitudes, and our actions. Allah says: “O you who believe, stand firmly for justice as witnesses for Allah, even if it be against yourselves.” (Surah An-Nisa, 4:135)
A Muslim does not build his faith upon hatred. He builds it upon truth, justice, mercy, and accountability.

We remember Srebrenica not because we wish to spread hatred toward anyone. We remember because truth is a trust. We remember because justice is a command from Allah. We remember because forgetting innocent victims is itself a form of injustice.

Dear brothers and sisters,

The lessons of Srebrenica are not limited to Bosnia. They are relevant wherever innocent people are oppressed, displaced, or killed.
Today, as we remember Srebrenica, our hearts also turn toward the suffering people of Gaza. For many months the world has witnessed immense human suffering, the loss of innocent lives, destroyed homes, grieving parents, and children growing up amid fear and devastation.

As Muslims, we do not measure human suffering by nationality, ethnicity, or geography. We stand with every innocent victim. We pray for justice for every oppressed people. Whether in Bosnia, Palestine, or anywhere else in the world, the loss of innocent life should shake our conscience and remind us of our responsibility before Allah.

Allah says: “Whoever kills a soul without right, it is as though he has killed all of mankind; and whoever saves a life, it is as though he has saved all of mankind.” (Surah Al-Ma’idah, 5:32)
This verse teaches us that every innocent life matters.

Dear brothers and sisters,

Many of us now live far from the lands where we were born. Our children are growing up here in Canada. They attend Canadian schools, speak different languages, and will build their futures in this country.
We are grateful for the peace and freedom we enjoy. But we must ensure that our children grow up knowing who they are, where they come from, and what values they must carry into the future.

We must teach them never to hate others. At the same time, we must teach them never to remain silent when truth is challenged or when injustice is committed.
The Messenger of Allah, sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, said: “Help your brother whether he is an oppressor or oppressed.” The Companions asked: “O Messenger of Allah, we understand helping the oppressed, but how do we help the oppressor?” He replied: “By preventing him from committing oppression.” (Sahih al-Bukhari)

This is the Islamic response to injustice. We do not justify oppression. We do not celebrate violence. We do not remain silent when human dignity is violated.

Dear brothers and sisters,

The greatest response to genocide is not hatred. The greatest response is faith. It is families that remain united. It is children who learn the Qur’an. It is communities that stay strong. It is believers who continue to worship Allah and serve humanity despite every hardship.

Let us not remember Srebrenica only once a year. We preserve its legacy every time we teach our children the truth, every time we bring them to the mosque, every time we stand for justice, and every time we make du’a for those who suffered before us.

The martyrs did not leave us a legacy of hatred. They left us a legacy of faith, perseverance, dignity, and hope.

Dear brothers and sisters,

Today, thousands of participants of the Peace March have completed their journey to Srebrenica, walking the same route that thousands of Bosniaks took in July of 1995 while desperately seeking safety and survival. Their footsteps are not merely a walk through forests and mountains. They are a journey through memory, sacrifice, and truth.

Tomorrow, July 11th, the world will once again remember the victims of Srebrenica. Mothers will once again mourn sons whose remains are still being identified decades later. Families will once again bury loved ones whose names have waited years for a dignified burial.

These scenes should not only bring tears to our eyes. They should awaken our conscience. They should inspire us to become better Muslims, better parents, better neighbours, and better servants of Allah.

As we remember Srebrenica, let us also remember every innocent victim of injustice throughout the world. Let us pray for the people of Gaza, for those suffering from war, oppression, displacement, and loss. Let us ask Allah to replace fear with safety, oppression with justice, and grief with hope.

O Allah, shower Your mercy upon the martyrs of Srebrenica and upon all innocent victims of oppression. O Allah, grant patience and strength to their families. O Allah, protect the people of Gaza and all those who suffer from war and injustice. O Allah, bring peace, justice, and security to Bosnia and Herzegovina, to Palestine, and to all lands where people live in fear. Strengthen our faith, protect our children, unite our community, unite our Ummah and make us people who stand firmly for truth, justice, mercy, and compassion. O Allah, make us worthy of the trust left to us by those who sacrificed so much before us, and gather us with the righteous in Jannatul Firdaus. Ameen.
