Draga braćo i poštovane sestre,

Allah ih hrani, a i vas.

Islam nas uči radu, trudu i odgovornosti.

A pravi vjernik prvo ide Allahu. Prvo sedžda. Prvo dova.

Allahumme amin.

Khutbah: “You alone we worship, and You alone we ask for help” – Who do we truly turn to?

All praise is due to Allah, Lord of all worlds, the One who created us, sustains us, and guides us to the straight path. May peace and blessings be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w.s.), his family, his companions, and all those who sincerely say: “You alone we worship, and You alone we ask for help.” (Surah Al-Fatihah, 1:5)

Dear brothers and sisters, how many times do we recite Surah Al-Fatihah every day? How many times do these words pass over our tongues? But have we ever stopped to reflect on what we are actually saying to Allah? These are not merely words that we repeat in our prayers. They are the foundation of our relationship with Allah and the essence of our faith.

When we say, “You alone we worship,” we are saying: O Allah, my prayer is for You, my obedience is for You, my loyalty is for You, and my heart belongs to You alone. And when we say, “You alone we ask for help,” we acknowledge our weakness and our constant need for Allah. No matter how strong we think we are, we are fragile servants. One phone call from a hospital can shake our world. One family crisis can leave us feeling helpless. One unexpected loss can remind us how little control we truly have.

That is why Allah teaches us not to attach our hearts to wealth, careers, positions, or people, but to attach them to Him. People may leave us. Wealth may disappear. Health may decline. But Allah never abandons those who sincerely turn to Him.

Dear brothers and sisters, one of the greatest mistakes of our time is believing that our provision comes solely from our jobs, our education, our businesses, or our connections. We begin to think that our success is entirely the result of our intelligence and effort. But Allah reminds us: “There is no creature on earth except that its provision is upon Allah.” (Surah Hud, 11:6)

Suhanallah. No living creature has been forgotten by Allah. The birds leave their nests every morning with empty stomachs and return satisfied. The Prophet (pbuh) said: “If you were to rely upon Allah with true reliance, He would provide for you as He provides for the birds. They leave in the morning hungry and return in the evening full.” (Tirmidhi)

Allah also reminds us: “How many creatures carry not their own provision! Allah provides for them and for you. He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing.” (Surah Al-’Ankabut, 29:60)

So how can we forget the One who has been providing for us since the day we were born? The One who knows our needs before we even speak them? The One who blesses us every day with countless favors that we often overlook? Allah promises:“And whoever fears Allah, He will make for him a way out and provide for him from where he does not expect.” (Surah At-Talaq, 65:2–3)

Whenever worries about provision, finances, or the future overwhelm you, remember that your rizq is with Allah. Your responsibility is to do your part. Allah will fulfill His promise. And Allah never breaks His promise.

Dear brothers and sisters, how many people today live in constant fear about money and the future? How many people lose sleep over worldly concerns? Yet we forget that our provision has already been decreed. This does not mean that we sit at home and do nothing. Islam teaches effort, responsibility, and hard work. The Prophet (s.a.w.s.) did not tell us that birds stay in their nests waiting for food. They go out, search, strive, and work, and Allah provides for them. Likewise, we are commanded to work, learn, plan, and use the means Allah has placed before us. We plan, but Allah determines. We work, but Allah gives barakah. We plant the seeds, but Allah brings forth the harvest. We take the means, but our hearts remain attached to the Lord of all means. That is why true security comes from knowing that Allah is with you.
Dear brothers and sisters, one of the problems of modern people is that we trust what we see more than we trust the One who created our eyes. We trust bank accounts more than Allah’s promise. We trust our plans more than Allah’s decree. But the believer understands that while means are important, Allah alone grants provision, blessings, and relief from hardship.

Dear brothers and sisters, many people today fear people more than they fear Allah. We worry about what others will say. We worry about our jobs. We worry about our status and reputation. Yet we forget that everything is in Allah’s Hands. Allah asks: “Who provides for you from the heavens and the earth? Who controls all affairs?” (Surah Yunus, 10:31) The answer is only one: Allah SWT. Therefore, it is a mistake to fear everything while forgetting Allah. It is a mistake to depend on people while neglecting the Lord of all people.

To our youth especially, I say: Do not attach your hearts to this temporary world. Education, careers, homes, and success are important, but none of these things can bring true happiness without Allah. You may have a great deal of wealth and still feel empty inside. You may have very little and still be at peace. Protect your prayers. Protect your du‘a. Protect your relationship with Allah. Because when Allah is with you, no one can take away your inner peace.

Dear brothers and sisters, there is a great difference between someone who merely recites Al-Fatihah and someone who lives by Al-Fatihah. Many people say: “You alone we worship, and You alone we ask for help.” But when hardship comes, their hearts immediately run to fear, panic, and people. The true believer turns to Allah first. First comes sujood. First comes du‘a. First comes reliance upon the Lord of the worlds. Because the believer knows that without Allah there is no success, no peace, and no way out. When Allah opens a door, no one can close it. And when Allah closes a door, no one can open it.

So, dear brothers and sisters, when we leave this masjid today and return to our homes, jobs, and responsibilities, let us carry these words with us: “You alone we worship, and You alone we ask for help.” Let these words be more than something we recite with our tongues. Let them become a conviction in our hearts and a way of life.

We ask Allah to make us among those who worship Him sincerely and seek help from Him alone.
O Allah, strengthen our faith, grant us halal provision, bless our lives with barakah, fill our hearts with peace, protect our families, our youth, and our community, and never allow our hearts to become attached to anyone or anything more than You. Allahumma Ameen.
