ISNA Year-End Message
Assalaamu alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh
Dear Friends,
I hope and pray that this letter finds you and your family in comfort, good health and spirituality as we pave the way for a bright 2014, insha’Allah.
The year 2013 was a magnificent milestone for ISNA—as it celebrated its 50th anniversary of service to Muslims in America. The peak celebratory moment was during ISNA’s annual convention, where we displayed a wonderful history gallery commemorating those pioneers who envisioned and created ISNA, starting with MSA, and also presented ISNA’s historical journey through a heartfelt documentary. Throughout the year, our primary goal was to provide valuable services and programs to communities that reflect ISNA’s overall objectives and priorities. I would like to take this opportunity to recognize our supporters –like you—who helped make each successful event possible.
Half a century is a long time to have such a dedicated group of partners, donors and supporters who continue to stand with ISNA, and for this we are truly grateful. While we acknowledged our historical achievements in 2013, ISNA also held a strategic planning retreat with Muslim leaders and visionaries, to reassess our mission, and evaluate how we can best serve the Muslim community in the future.
The outcome of that retreat created the following mission: To foster the development of the Muslim community, to promote interfaith relations and civic engagement, and to advance a better understanding of Islam. ISNA’s mission will continue to help focus our efforts on activities, programs and events that are meaningful, inspiring and relevant. The Muslim community has grown and matured since ISNA’s beginnings, so our commitment will aim to enhance Muslim life in America by connecting, serving and empowering Muslim communities.
We hope that 2014 will be even more fruitful and rewarding, insha’Allah. Please join ISNA in this new journey, and continue your support today; your contributions help make it happen! I hope you enjoy reading the Your Money at Work newsletter, which highlights ISNA’s activities for this past year to show you what we have been busy doing nationwide. Please feel free to submit suggestions or feedback about ISNA on our website www.isna.net, under ‘contact us’ to let us know how we can better serve you. May Allah bless you and your family, and all of our efforts in building a stronger, inclusive, successful and vibrant Ummah. Jazakum Allah khairun.
Wasalaamu alaikum,
Imam Mohamed Magid, ISNA President
